The speaker allowed Muslims to use a house for prayers. Protesting against this, the BJP took to the streets and demanded that the Ulto Assembly building be set up in the temple.

A request for a prayer room was made to the Speaker so that the prayers of the Muslim MLAs would not be missed during the assembly session. Later it was approved by Speaker Rabindranath Mahato. This angered the BJP.
